Mechanism of Action:

Ergosterol is a necessary component of fungal cell membranes, and clotrimazole functions by preventing its formation. The integrity of the cell membrane is compromised by this disturbance in ergosterol production, which increases permeability and allows vital cellular components to seep out, ultimately leading to fungal cell death.

Oropharyngeal candidiasis (oral thrush)

Dosage and Administration:

How to use this Medication?

Clotrimazole is a lozenge that dissolves gradually in the mouth. It is often used five times a day for 14 days to treat yeast infections. It is often used three times a day to prevent yeast infections. Your condition will determine how long your preventative treatment lasts. Every day, take clotrimazole lozenges at around the same times. Pay close attention to the instructions on your prescription label, and ask your pharmacist or doctor to clarify any parts you don't understand. Follow the directions on clotrimazole exactly. Never take more or less of it than your doctor has prescribed, nor use it more frequently than that.

Put the lozenge in your mouth and let it dissolve gradually to use it. Clotrimazole lozenges should not be chewed, crushed, or swallowed. About half an hour should pass before it dissolves.
