Mechanism of Action:

Epirubicin works through multiple mechanisms to exert its anticancer effects. It interferes with the transcription and replication processes necessary for cell life by intercalating into DNA and preventing the creation of both DNA and RNA. It further impairs cellular activity by inhibiting the enzyme topoisomerase II, which causes DNA strand breaks. Additionally, epirubicin produces free radicals that harm biological components and cause cytotoxicity. Together, these factors prevent cancer cells from proliferating, which eventually results in cell death.
