Oxitoz 50mg Injection contains Oxaliplatin as its active ingredient. The chemotherapy drug that is mainly used to treat colorectal cancer is oxaliplatin. It is one of the group of medications called platinum-based antineoplastic medicines.
Brand Name: Oxitoz
Composition: Oxaliplatin 50mg
Mechanism of Action:
Following its metabolism in the body, oxaliplatin produces reactive platinum molecules. These substances attach themselves to DNA and cause DNA strands to cross-link, which prevents cancer cells from replicating and transcriptionally using DNA. This eventually results in apoptosis, or cell death, especially in malignant cells that divide quickly. Oxaliplatin is effective against some cancer cells that are resistant to other medicines like cisplatin and carboplatin, but it has a different toxicity profile than other platinum-based medications.
