FAQs about MMF Tablet:

1. What is IPCA MMF 500mg Tablet?

IPCA MMF 500mg contains Mycophenolate Mofetil, an immunosuppressant medication. It may be prescribed to help prevent the body from rejecting a transplanted organ, such as a kidney, heart, or liver. Its suitability depends on a clinical assessment by a specialist.

2. How does IPCA MMF work?

Mycophenolate Mofetil is believed to work by reducing the activity of the body's immune system. This immunosuppressive action may help prevent the immune system from attacking and rejecting transplanted tissues. The exact clinical response may vary between individuals.

It is typically taken orally, usually twice daily, exactly as prescribed by your doctor. It is generally recommended to swallow the tablet whole with water and to avoid crushing or chewing it to prevent affecting absorption.

4. What are the possible side effects?

Some patients may experience:

  • Diarrhoea
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Abdominal pain

These effects may vary in frequency and severity. Not all patients will experience them. Consult your doctor if any side effects persist or are concerning.

5. Are there serious risks associated with IPCA MMF?

Because it acts as an immunosuppressant, it may increase a patient's susceptibility to infections. With prolonged use, some patients may also be at a potentially higher risk for certain types of cancers, such as skin cancer and lymphoma. Your doctor will monitor you appropriately during therapy.

6. Can IPCA MMF be used during pregnancy?

IPCA MMF is generally considered unsafe during pregnancy. It may be associated with a high risk of miscarriage and potential birth defects. Strict contraceptive measures are typically advised for women of childbearing age during treatment and for a specified period after discontinuing the drug. Please consult your physician.
