Pegasta 6mg Injection contains Pegfilgrastim, a long-acting form of filgrastim, which is a granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Pegfilgrastim is used primarily to reduce the risk of infection in patients undergoing chemotherapy by stimulating the bone marrow to produce more white blood cells (neutrophils).

Mechanism of Action:

A pegylated version of filgrastim, pegfilgrastim promotes the development, maturation, and activation of bone marrow-derived neutrophils, a subset of white blood cells. This lowers the risk of infections by shortening the length of neutropenia, or low neutrophil count, that is linked to chemotherapy.

Dosage and Administration:

Typically administered as a single subcutaneous injection per chemotherapy cycle, usually 24 hours after the completion of chemotherapy.

How to use this Medication?

This medication is injected under the skin. If using the pre-filled syringe or On-body Injector at home, follow the provided instructions carefully and notify your healthcare team immediately if you suspect a missed or partial dose.

It is important that you put your used needles and syringes in a special sharps container. Never dispose of them in a trash can. Get a sharps container by calling your pharmacist or care team if you don't already have one.
