Rituxirel 100mg Injection

Rituxirel 100mg Injection contains Rituximab, a monoclonal antibody used to treat certain types of cancers and autoimmune diseases.

Composition: Rituximab 100mg 

Mechanism of Action:

Rituximab targets the CD20 antigen on B-lymphocytes (B-cells), which are involved in both normal immune function and the development of certain cancers like non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and CLL. Upon binding to CD20, rituximab induces B-cell death through multiple pathways, including direct apoptosis (cell death), activation of the complement system, and recruitment of immune cells that kill the antibody-tagged B-cells.

Uses:

• Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
• Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
• Rheumatoid Arthritis

Dosage and Administration: Dosage is individualized by the treating specialist depending on the condition being treated: commonly 375 mg/m² body surface area given as an intravenous infusion once weekly for 4 doses for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, in combination with chemotherapy for chronic lymphocytic leukemia, and as two 1000mg infusions two weeks apart (often repeated in further courses) for rheumatoid arthritis. The first infusion is given slowly with close monitoring for infusion reactions, and premedication with an antihistamine, acetaminophen/paracetamol, and sometimes a corticosteroid is generally given beforehand.

Contraindications/Warnings: Rituximab carries important boxed-warning-level risks: severe, sometimes fatal infusion reactions (usually with the first infusion) reactivation of hepatitis B virus, which can cause fulminant hepatitis and death all patients should be screened for hepatitis B before starting treatment; and progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy (PML), a rare but serious and often fatal brain infection caused by JC virus reactivation. Severe mucocutaneous reactions (including Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis) and tumor lysis syndrome (particularly in patients with high tumor burden) have also been reported. It is contraindicated in patients with a known severe hypersensitivity to rituximab or murine proteins.

Safety Advise:

Heart

Cardiac arrhythmias, angina, and myocardial infarction have been reported, usually in association with severe infusion reactions; patients with pre-existing cardiac disease should be monitored closely during infusion. Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.

Store in a refrigerator between 2°C to 8°C. Do not freeze or shake the vial.

This medication is administered through a vein by a healthcare professional in a hospital or clinic setting.

You will receive a special Medication Guide before each treatment, so make sure to read it thoroughly every time. 

Consult your healthcare provider about using this medication for children. While it may be prescribed to children as young as 6 months for certain conditions, specific precautions must be followed.

In case of an overdose, immediately contact a poison control center or go to the emergency room.
