Fragmin 2500IU Injection contains Dalteparin sodium, a low molecular weight heparin. Its main purpose is to prevent and cure dangerous blood clots, including pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, and acute coronary syndrome consequences. It is also used to stop clots from forming in people who are having surgery or who have acute illnesses that limit their mobility.

Mechanism of Action:

Antithrombin III, a naturally occurring clotting factor inhibitor, is activated by daltoneparin sodium. It mostly inhibits Factor Xa, with thrombin (Factor IIa) being inhibited to a lesser degree. By stopping prothrombin from becoming thrombin and fibrinogen from becoming fibrin, this inhibition lowers the risk of clot formation. Compared to unfractionated heparin, it provides more consistent anticoagulant effects since it is a low molecular weight heparin (LMWH).

How to use this Medication?

Depending on age and condition, dalteparin is usually administered as a subcutaneous injection once or twice a day. It is taken for 5–8 days for angina or heart attacks, and for 5–10 days beginning on the day of surgery following surgery. It is administered for 12–14 days to patients on bed rest in order to prevent DVT. Treatment for DVT caused by cancer may last up to six months.
