     Candipoz-GR 300mg Tablet contains A broad-spectrum triazole antifungal called posaconazole is used to treat and prevent serious fungal infections, particularly in patients with weakened immune systems (such as those receiving organ transplants or chemotherapy).

Composition: Posaconazole 300mg

Mechanism of Action:

As an antifungal medication, posaconazole functions by blocking the enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is essential for the production of ergosterol, a major constituent of the fungal cell membrane. Posaconazole damages the integrity of the cell membrane by preventing the synthesis of ergosterol, which results in cell death and stops the growth of fungi.

Uses:

• Prevention of invasive fungal infections caused by Aspergillus and Candida in patients with weakened immune systems.
• Treatment of oropharyngeal candidiasis.

Dosage and Administration:

The usual dosage varies according to the kind of infection and the delayed-release tablet composition. for prophylaxis, the typical regimen using this 300mg strength is one tablet twice on the first day, followed by one tablet once daily thereafter.

Contraindications/Warnings: 

Candipoz-GR is contraindicated for co-administration with sirolimus, as posaconazole significantly increases sirolimus blood levels, and with CYP3A4 substrates that prolong the QT interval, including quinidine, pimozide, and certain ergot alkaloids, due to risk of serious arrhythmia. It should be used with caution in patients with pre-existing proarrhythmic conditions and electrolyte abnormalities such as hypokalemia, which should be corrected before and monitored during treatment. It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to posaconazole or other azole antifungals. The delayed-release tablet and oral suspension formulations of posaconazole are not interchangeable on a mg-for-mg basis due to differing bioavailability.

How to use this Medication?

The Posaconazole tablets are usually taken with or without food twice daily on the first day and then once a day. Take posaconazole exactly as prescribed, at the same times daily, and follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.

Do not break, chew, or crush the posaconazole delayed-release pills; instead, swallow them whole. Inform your doctor if you find it difficult to take the delayed-release tablets whole. 

You cannot use multiple posaconazole products interchangeably since they release the drug in your body in different ways. Take the posaconazole medication that has been prescribed by your physician; do not switch to a different posaconazole medication unless directed by your physician.
