Mechanism of Action:

Efavirenz is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) that prevents HIV from replicating by blocking the reverse transcriptase enzyme.

The reverse transcriptase enzyme is inhibited by tenofovir and emtricitabine, which stops viral RNA from being converted to DNA and stops the virus from multiplying inside the host cells. By lowering the blood's viral load, this dual action strengthens the immune system and lowers the risk of consequences from HIV.
