Celhep 25000IU/5ml Injection

Celhep 25000IU/5ml Injection contains Heparin is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan that acts as a potent anticoagulant. It prevents blood clot formation by enhancing the activity of antithrombin III, which inhibits clotting factors such as thrombin (Factor IIa) and Factor Xa.

Composition: Heparin

Mechanism of Action:

Heparin inhibits coagulation factors IIa (thrombin) and Xa more quickly when it binds to antithrombin III (ATIII). By decreasing fibrin synthesis, this stops clots from growing and forming new ones.

Uses:

• Deep vein thrombosis
• Pulmonary embolism

Dosage and Administration:

The administration routes are subcutaneous (SC) or intravenous (IV). The patient's weight, coagulation monitoring, and the clinical indication all affect dosage. Do not give a fixed dose/frequency because UFH dosing varies substantially by indication and may require aPTT/anti-Xa monitoring.

Side Effects:

• Bleeding
• Injection site reactions (bruising, pain, redness)
• Heparin-induced Thrombocytopenia 
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Headache
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Fever
• Diarrhea

Serious side effect 

• Spinal/epidural hematomas

Contraindications/Warnings:
Active major bleeding, history of HIT, severe thrombocytopenia and caution with neuraxial anesthesia/spinal procedures. Avoid IM administration because of bleeding risk.

Safety Advise:

   Kidney  

Patients with kidney illness should use Celhep injection with caution. Celhep injection dosage adjustments can be required. Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.

   Liver  

The use of Celhep injection in individuals with liver dysfunction is not well-documented. Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.

   Pregnancy  

Heparin does not cross the placenta and is commonly used when anticoagulation is required during pregnancy under medical supervision

   Breast Feeding  

It is strongly recommended that you speak with your healthcare provider before using an injection of Celhep if you are nursing a baby.Heparin is generally compatible with breastfeeding because it is not expected to be significantly absorbed orally by the infant.

   Alcohol  

It is unknown if drinking alcohol while using an injection of Celhep is safe. Kindly speak with your healthcare provider.

Storage:

Store at room temperature (15–25°C). Protect from light and do not freeze.

How to use this medication?

Heparin is injected subcutaneously (under the skin), typically twice a day for 10-14 days. Follow your doctor's instructions exactly, and do not adjust the dose or frequency on your own.

Use Heparin as prescribed even if you feel good. Heparin should not be stopped without first consulting your doctor.
