Akynzeo Capsule contains two active ingredients, Netupitant and Palonosetron. The main purpose of this combination is to avoid chemotherapy-related nausea and vomiting.

Mechanism of Action:

An antagonist of the neurokinin-1 (NK1) receptor, netupitant prevents substance P, a neurotransmitter implicated in vomiting, from working. It successfully avoids delayed nausea and vomiting, which usually happen more than 24 hours following chemotherapy, by blocking NK1 receptors in the brain. Conversely, palonosetron functions as a 5-HT3 receptor antagonist by inhibiting serotonin (5-HT3) receptors in the gastrointestinal system and brain. This relieves acute nausea and vomiting that happen within the first 24 hours following chemotherapy by blocking the vomiting center's activity. Nykron provides longer-lasting protection against nausea and vomiting by combining these two processes, which improves chemotherapy treatment tolerance.
