Zemdri 500mg/10ml Injection

Zemdri 500mg/10ml Injection contains Plazomicin, a next-generation aminoglycoside antibiotic. It is used to treat complex urinary tract infections (cUTIs), which can include kidney infections caused by susceptible bacteria.

Mechanism of Action:

Plazomicin inhibits protein synthesis by attaching itself to the bacterial 30S ribosomal subunit. As a result, defective proteins are produced, which eventually results in bacterial cell death. It works well against multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria since it is made to get around a lot of common aminoglycoside resistance mechanisms.

Dosage and Administration:

Zemdri is injected intravenously. The usual suggested dosage is administered over 30 minutes and is depending on body weight (15 mg/kg once daily).

How to use this Medication?

This drug is administered intravenously. In a hospital or clinic, your care team often administers it. It can be administered at home as well.

You will be instructed on how to prepare and administer this medication if you receive it at home. Use precisely as instructed. Take it at the same time each day as instructed on the prescription label. Unless your care team instructs you to stop, continue taking it.

It is crucial that you store your used syringes and needles in a designated sharps container. Keep them out of the garbage can. Get a sharps container by calling your pharmacist or care team if you don't already have one.
