Anti-D 300mcg Injection

Anti-D 300mcg Injection contains Rho(D) Immunoglobulin, which is human anti-D immunoglobulin. It is used to avoid Rh incompatibility in Rh-negative mothers who might come into contact with Rh-positive blood during specific medical procedures, pregnancy, delivery, or miscarriage.

Mechanism of Action:

Human Anti-D Immunoglobulin functions by attaching itself to Rh(D)-positive red blood cells that may have gotten into a Rh-negative person's circulation. Hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) is prevented in subsequent pregnancies by preventing the immune system from identifying them as foreign and producing antibodies.

Uses:

·       Preventing Rh incompatibility during pregnancy

·       Preventing Fetal and Newborn Hemolytic Disease (HDFN)

·       Following miscarriage, abortion, ectopic pregnancy, or invasive obstetric operations.

Dosage and Administration:

A medical practitioner administers Anti-D Injection intravenously or intramuscularly. A single dosage of 300 mcg is usually administered around week 28 of pregnancy and, if the infant is Rh-positive, within 72 hours of delivery. Certain clinical circumstances can call for further doses.
