Brand Name: Fumiget 3gm Injection

Composition: Cefpirome 2000mg + Sulbactam 1000mg

Mechanism of Action:

Cefpirome is a fourth generation cephalosporin antibiotics that kills susceptible bacteria by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) and inhibiting bacterial call wall synthesis. This weakens the bacterial cell wall and ultimately causes bacterial cell death.

Sulbactam is a beta lactamse inhibitor. It inhibits certain beta lactamase enzymes produced by bacteria, helping protect cefpirome from enzymatic degradation and supporting its anti bacterial activity. Studies have demonstrated bactericidal activity of cepirome combined with sulbactam against certain beta lactamase producing organisms.
