Pirfenex 600mg Tablet contains Pirfenidone, an anti-fibrotic and anti-inflammatory medication. It is used to treat idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a disorder that results in breathing difficulties and progressive lung scarring.

Mechanism of Action:

Pirfenidone inhibits the synthesis of fibrogenic mediators such transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) and decreases fibroblast proliferation. It inhibits the development of lung fibrosis and aids in reducing the production of collagen.

Treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF)

Pirfenex is taken orally.

How to use this Medication?

Pirfenidone is available as an oral tablet or capsule. Typically, it is taken three times a day with food. Every day, take pirfenidone at around the same times. Pay close attention to the instructions on your prescription label, and if you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Pirfenidone should be taken exactly as prescribed. Don't take more or less of it, or take it more frequently than your doctor recommends.

Over the course of two weeks, your doctor will start you on a low dose of pirfenidone and progressively increase it.
