Zidolam Tablet

Zidolam Tablet is a fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medication used in the treatment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection. It has strong antiviral effects by combining two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs), Lamivudine and Zidovudine.

Composition: Zidovudine 300 mg, Lamivudine 150mg 

Mechanism of Action:

HIV replication requires the reverse transcriptase enzyme, which is inhibited by zidovudine and lamivudine. They are integrated into the viral DNA and hinder further elongation by causing premature chain termination. This prevents viral RNA from being converted into proviral DNA. This slows the course of the disease by suppressing HIV multiplication.

Uses:

HIV-1 infection combination antiretroviral therapy (ART) regimen

Dosage and Administration:

The dosage is take one pill twice a day. The administration method is oral. suitable for both food and non-food consumption.

Contraindications/Warnings:

Regular blood count monitoring is needed, as this medicine can cause anemia and low white blood cell count. Should not be combined with Stavudine (reduces effectiveness) or other Zidovudine/Lamivudine-containing products. Starting treatment can sometimes cause a temporary worsening of symptoms as the immune system recovers (immune reconstitution) report any new symptoms to the doctor.
