Xpreza 200mg Tablet contains Azacitidine, is a chemotherapy agent commonly used for treating certain blood disorders, particularly myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) and some cases of acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
Brand Name: Xpreza
Composition: Azacitidine
Azacitidine inhibits DNA methyltransferase enzymes by acting as a hypomethylating agent. This results in DNA hypomethylation, which can normalize cell proliferation or cell death by reactivating tumor suppressor genes that are typically repressed in cancer cells. Additionally, it combines with RNA to prevent the creation of proteins in cells that divide quickly.

A medical practitioner administers azacitidine by subcutaneous or intravenous injection, usually once daily for seven days, with cycles repeated every four weeks as advised. Typically, treatment lasts for a minimum of four cycles.
After two cycles, if your condition has not improved and you have not encountered any severe adverse effects from the medicine, your doctor may decide to increase your dosage of azacitidine. If you have certain adverse effects, your doctor could also need to lower your dosage or postpone your treatment. Throughout your azacitadine treatment, be sure to update your doctor about your feelings.
Prior to each dose of azacitadine, your doctor will prescribe medication to prevent nausea and vomiting.
