Brand Name: Awiqli FlexTouch

Composition: Insulin Icodec 700 Units/mL

Mechanism of Action:

Insulin Icodec is an ultra-long-acting insulin analogue that works similarly to naturally produced human insulin. It binds to insulin receptors on muscle and fat cells, promoting glucose uptake and utilization. It also inhibits glucose production by the liver, thereby helping to reduce blood glucose levels.

Insulin Icodec has been structurally modified to enable reversible binding to albumin in the bloodstream. This allows the insulin to remain in circulation for an extended period and provides a prolonged glucose-lowering effect.

Due to its ultra-long duration of action, Insulin Icodec is administered once weekly to provide continuous basal insulin coverage and help maintain stable blood glucose levels.

Uses:

· Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus

· Improvement of blood glucose control in patients with type 2 diabetes, along with diet and exercise.

Dosage and Administration:

Awiqli FlexTouch is administered as a subcutaneous injection once weekly, preferably on the same day each week.

The dosage is individualized according to the patient's blood glucose levels, previous insulin treatment, metabolic requirements and treatment goals.

It is administered subcutaneously into the abdomen, thigh or upper arm. Injection sites should be rotated regularly to reduce the risk of injection-site complications.

The 700 Units/mL prefilled pen contains 700 units of Insulin Icodec in 1 mL. The pen delivers doses in increments of 10 units, up to a maximum of 700 units per injection.

Patients switching from other insulin treatments must follow a specific dose-conversion and monitoring schedule under medical supervision.

Contraindications/Warnings:

Awiqli FlexTouch is contraindicated in patients experiencing an episode of hypoglycemia and in patients with known hypersensitivity to Insulin Icodec or any of its ingredients.

Severe hypoglycemia can occur due to excessive insulin dosage, missed meals, increased physical activity or changes in other antidiabetic medications. Severe or prolonged hypoglycemia may require immediate medical attention.

Do not share the FlexTouch pen or needles with another person, even if the needle is changed. Never transfer insulin from the pen into a syringe, as this may result in serious dosing errors and potentially life-threatening hypoglycemia.

Do not administer intravenously, intramuscularly or through an insulin infusion pump. Do not dilute or mix Awiqli with other insulin preparations.

Patients taking thiazolidinediones together with insulin should be monitored for fluid retention and symptoms of heart failure.
